DYT Team Leader (one position)

Position Type: Full-time summer job (10 weeks) 

Dates: June 8 to August 14, 2026 (dates not confirmed) 

Schedule: Monday to Friday. Hours may vary. Some weekend work required. Evening training in early June. Must be able to attend overnight camps: June 30 to July 5 and July 27 to 31  

IMPORTANT: This job is funded through Canada Summer Jobs. To apply, you must be: 

  • a Canadian citizen or permanent resident 

  • legally allowed to work in Canada 

  • between 19* and 30 years old 

* FNDC & DYT require employees to be age 19+ due to working with children ages 5 to 18.

Want a summer job that makes a difference? We’re hiring a Team Leader to help lead our DYT summer staff. You’ll help create safe, fun spaces where Deaf children can play, connect, and grow their ASL skills. You’ll support staff, help solve problems, and keep the day running smoothly. We’re looking for someone who is

  • ASL fluency 

  • Knowledge and understanding of Deaf culture 

  • Strong communication skills 

  • Legally able to work in Canada 

  • A clear Criminal Record Check 

  • At least one year of experience leading a team 

  • At least two years of experience working with children 

  • Availability for the full summer 

  • The ability to attend overnight camps: June 30 -July 5 & July 27-31  

  • Transportation (car, bus, or carpool) 

You must have

  • Lead team while building a positive, respectful work environment 

  • Supervise and support DYT staff and contract workers 

  • Manage schedules and programs 

  • Use technology for administrative duties 

  • Help plan and lead activities and games 

  • Communicate with campers and parents 

  • Make sure campers are always safe 

  • Follow all DYT policies and guidelines
