HORNBY ISLAND Youth Overnight Camp is back by popular demand!

Proudly hosted by the Tribune Bay Outdoor Education Society and Deaf Youth Today staff! Campers will participate in a variety of activities including paddle boarding, kayaking, beachcombing, hiking, climbing, rappelling, high and low ropes, group games, sports, drama/skits, campfire fun, deaf-friendly activities and interactive workshops.

Parents don’t need to worry because every moment of the day is accounted for and supervised! We have a very high staff to camper ratio. This is a fun, safe and supervised environment! Sleeping arrangements are organized by age. Younger children will be in a separate cabin from older campers.

Cost includes accommodation, meals, all activities and transportation to and from Hornby Island with DYT Staff. Once registered, you will receive a confirmation e-mail with more details. Late registrations (received after June 25th) can’t be guaranteed a spot but will be assessed and accepted according to the individual needs of the camper and our staffing levels.

Each day is an adventure whether it be in the water or surrounded by nature or going on a wild ride! This week, we will adventure out to the Great Escape, build Lego projects with a guest from Bricks4Kids, and take a tour to the UBC Gardens and Tree Top. Join us and immerse yourself in these adventure activities!

Bubble Soccer is a fun and interactive activity! It will have you bumping, bouncing and rolling! We will end the day by cooling off at McPherson Swimming Pool.

Swimming, laughter, outdoor adventures, making new friends and lasting memories, these are just a few things you will experience during Summer Immersion Week. This special program will be built up around entertaining activities and outdoor excursions, an on-site Special activity day and we will finish the week with a group Beach Day!

This week is ONLY for children who have parents ALREADY registered with the Provincial Deaf & Hard of Hearing Services (PDHHS)’ for the Family Summer Immersion program. After parents have registered for adult Immersion week with PDHHS, you will be given a code to register your children for this week.

Your child’s mind will explode with a week of amazing crafts and hands-on activities. In addition, there will be a trip to the Apple store where their young minds will learn about coding with Sphere robots; they will learn to program simple movements, loops, and more. Also, there will be a guest coming on site to do a science lab with the kids. The week will wrap up with a day of fun at Playland where the thrilling rides may just blow their minds!

Was your child ever a fish or a dolphin or even a penguin in a past life? Or maybe they just love water? If you answered yes, this is the week for them because it is all about getting wet! Each day, we will be going to various public pools as well as taking a trip to Splash Down Park. Be sure to bring sunscreen, hat, towel, and lunch.

Come join us on this fun-filled day of taking pictures around downtown Vancouver. An instructor will show you how to create stunning shots, experiment with the latest features, and share their best photography and editing tips.

Come learn about your bike, it’s anatomy and how to ride it safely. You will learn some basic “how-to fixes” like repairing a flat tire. Get your hands greasy with some practical work. There will be lessons on how to ride safely on the road or shared paths, how to shoulder check, shift gears, and to communicate with other road or path users. The week will end in a bicycle ride through a nice location then a dip in a pool.

Ages 13 - 18

Teens will have an opportunity to learn some basic bike repair and how to fix small problems by getting some hands-on experience using bike tools. Plenty of time to ask questions.
