BC Deaf Community Skills Shortage
Data Collection Project
Supported by the Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD), the Family Network for Deaf Children (FNDC) has put together a team to collect data and formally document the current shortage of qualified professionals working with BC’s Deaf, Deaf-Blind, and Hard of Hearing (DDBHH) children, youth, and adults, focused on the following:

Registered Interpreters

Deaf Interpreters
-
Intervenors
-
Teachers of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (and Deaf-Blind)

Early Childhood Educators (specific to DDBHH children)

Speech Language Pathologists (specific to DDBHH children/youth)

Educational Assistants (specific to DDBHH children/youth)
-
Language Acquisition Support Workers
-
ASL Instructors
